What Innovation Can Do to Your Life

1/4/2022

It's a talent that everyone has, yet they think they don't. The power of innovation. If you've ever marveled at somebody's creative prowess, guess what, you can create and innovate too. It just takes time. Everyone is born creative. The box of crayons in kindergarten was not limited to those who possessed potential; because the truth is, everybody has potential. Do you know how long it took to learn to ride a bike or drive or to never commit the same mistake again?
innovation poster
It's the same with innovation. It takes a  bit of practice and a lot of time before this mind function comes easily  when called. This article will teach you a few tips on how to bring innovation into your life.
Don't listen to what other people say. Follow the beat of your own drum. Allowing for the input of other people will only bring cacophony to the music you are trying to make. If you have an original idea, don't waste your time and effort trying to make people understand. They won't. And the help you will probably get comes in the form of negative feedback. If all those geniuses listened to their peers, we would probably still be living in the middle ages.
man shaking digital hand through laptop
Spend time on it. I cannot stress that enough, although please do not mistake this tip to tell you to quit your day job entirely. Do not. This involves some tricky time management but with a little discipline you'll be able to squeeze both in.

Exercise. Take a walk. Run a mile or two. Send all those endorphins coursing through your veins. Exercising certainly clears and relaxes your mind and allows for anything to pop up.
Record your dreams. Aren't some of them just the craziest things that your conscious mind would never have thought of? If you've had these dreams before, and I'm sure you have, this only shows you the untapped innovative power you have lying within. So jot down those notes. Those dreams may just create an innovative spark in you.
people in standing meeting
Find your own style. You can always tell a Van Gogh from a Matisse. You'll know Hemingway wrote something by the choice of words on the paper. So it is the same with you. People will appreciate your innovation more because it is uniquely yours and that no one else would have thought of what you were thinking. That will let people see how valuable an asset you are.

Don't hide behind nifty gadgets or tools. You don't need the most expensive set of paints to produce a masterpiece. The same way with writing. You don't need an expensive fountain pen and really smooth paper for a bestseller. In fact, J.K. Rowling wrote the first book of the Harry Potter Series on bits of tissue. So what if you've got an expensive SLR camera if you're a crappy photographer? Who cares if you've got a blinging laptop if you can't write at all? The artist reduces the number of tools he has as he gets better at his craft: he knows what works and what doesn't.
Nothing will work without passion. What wakes you up in the mornings? What keeps the flame burning? What is the one thing that you'll die if you don't do? Sometimes people with talent are overtaken by the people who want it more. Think of the hare and the tortoise. Ellen Degeneres once said that if you're not doing something that you want to do, then you don't really want to do it. And that's true.
New Way sign
Sometimes you just want something so bad you become virtually unstoppable. And that is passion. Passion will keep you going.

Don't worry about inspiration. You can't force it; inspiration hits when you least expect it to, for those unpredictable yet inevitable moments you should prepare. An idea could strike you on the subway, yet alas, you poor unfortunate soul; you have no sheet of paper to scribble down a thought that could change the world. Avoid these disasters. Have a pen and paper within your arm's reach at all times. If you have nothing, record or type it on your phone.
I hope this article has helped you bring more innovation into your life. Keep in mind that you're doing these things for your own satisfaction and not anybody else's. But soon enough they will notice, and everything should snowball from there.

"A Piece of Blarney Stone" Ten Ways To Empower Your Communication

18/3/2022

The Blarney Stone is a historical stone, or actually part of the Blarney Castle in Ireland where it was believed that kissing the stone can grant you the gift of gab. Yeah, it seems strange in this day and age, but who are we to question tradition? It's not like I'm saying that Santa Claus doesn't exist (OOPS!).

There is so much to know about conversation that anyone, even I, could ever realize.
blarney castle
You can go through watching talk shows; radio programs; clubs dedicated to public speaking; ordinary conversations; certain rules still apply when it comes to interaction through words. It may sound tedious, I know, but even though it's your mouth that's doing the work, your brain works twice as hard to churn out a lot of things you know. So what better way to start learning to be an effective communication is to know the very person closest to you: yourself.
1. What you know
Education is all about learning the basics, but to be an effective speaker is to practice what you've learned. We all have our limitations, but that doesn't mean we can't learn to keep up and share what we know.

2. Listening
It's just as important as asking questions. Sometimes listening to the sound of our own voice can teach us to be a little bit confident with ourselves and to say the things we believe in with conviction.

3. Humility
We all make mistakes, and sometimes we tend to slur our words, stutter, and probably mispronounce certain words even though we know what it means, but rarely use it only to impress listeners. So in a group, don't be afraid to ask if you're saying the right word properly and if they're unsure about it then make a joke out of it. I promise you it'll make everyone laugh and you can get away with it as well.
4. Eye Contact
There's a lot to say when it comes to directing your attention to your audience with an eye-catching gaze. It's important that you keep your focus when talking to a large group in a meeting or a gathering, even though he or she may be gorgeous.

5. Humor
A little bit of humor can do wonders to lift the tension, or worse boredom when making your speech. That way, you'll get the attention of the majority of the crowd and they'll feel that you're just as approachable, and as human to those who listen.

6. Be like the rest of them
Interaction is all about mingling with other people. You'll get a lot of ideas, as well as knowing what people make of them as they are.
7. Me, Myself, and I
Admit it, there are times you sing to yourself in the shower. I know I do! Listening to the sound of your own voice while you practice your speech in front of a mirror can help correct the stress areas of your pitch. And while you're at it, you can spruce up as well.

8. Smile
A smile says it all, much like eye contact. There's no point in grimacing or frowning in a meeting or a gathering, unless it's a wake. You can better express what you're saying when you smile.
mans speaking in public
9. A Role Model
There must be at least one or two people in your life you have listened to when they're at a public gathering or maybe at church. Sure, they read their lines, but taking a mental note of how they emphasize what they say can help you once you take center stage.

10. Preparation
Make the most out of preparation rather than just scribbling notes and often in a hurried panic. Some people like to write things down on index cards, while others resort to being a little more silly as they look at their notes written on the palm of their hand (not for clammy hands, please). Just be comfortable with what you know since you enjoy your work.
Empower yourself when it comes to public or private speaking. It never hurts to be with people to listen how they make conversations and meetings far more enjoyable as well as educational.

"Who's the Boss?" 10 ways to start taking control (time management, goal setting, record tracking)

11/3/2022

Many of us develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. This negative outlook then makes it even harder for us to manage those challenges and move forward.

Practicing positive thinking allows people to focus on our strengths and accomplishments, which increases happiness and motivation. This, in turn, allows us to spend more time making progress, and less time feeling down and stuck. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns:
1. Take Good Care of Yourself
It's much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.

2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For
Stress and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.
hiker reaching summit
3. Look for Proof Instead of Making Assumptions
A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don't waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about.
4. Refrain from Using Absolutes
Have you ever told a partner "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a friend "You NEVER call me!"? Thinking and speaking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering.

5. Detach From Negative Thoughts
Your thoughts can't hold any power over you if you don't judge them. If you notice yourself having a negative thought, detach from it, witness it, and don't follow it.
motivation words on board
6. Squash the "ANTs"
In his book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen talks about "ANTs" - Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them!
7. Practice Lovin', Touchin' & Squeezin' (Your Friends and Family)
You don't have to be an expert to know the benefits of a good hug. Positive physical contact with friends, loved ones, and even pets, is an instant pick-me-up. One research study on this subject had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm as she handed them their checks. She received higher tips from these customers than from the ones she didn't touch!
runners on track
8. Increase Your Social Activity
By increasing social activity, you decrease loneliness. Surround yourself with healthy, happy people, and their positive energy will affect you in a positive way!

9. Volunteer for an Organization, or Help another Person
Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.

10. Use Pattern Interrupts to Combat Rumination
If you find yourself ruminating, a great way to stop it is to interrupt the pattern and force yourself to do something completely different. Rumination is like hyper-focusing on something negative. It's never productive, because it's not rational or solution-oriented, it's just excessive worry. Try changing your physical environment - go for a walk or sit outside. You could also call a friend, pick up a book, or turn on some music.
When it comes to the corporate world, protocol is pretty much a religion. Knowing the things needed to do are the basics of productivity, but interaction and having a steady mind makes up the entire thing to true productivity. There are those who seem to work well even under pressure, but they're uncommon ones and we are human and imperfect. To get these little things like stress under our skin won't solve our problems. Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to admit that we're turning to be workaholics rather than tell ourselves that we're not doing our best.

The Five Basic Principles of Online Marketing

4/3/2022

Ask the experts about the most vital parts of online marketing, and you'll invariably come up with a list of five major responses. The five critical online marketing principles are:
  1. Dead Ends
  2. Giving and selling
  3. Trust
  4. Push and pull
  5. Niche marketing
 Dead Ends
The dead end principle means that your web marketing effort can't just exist. It must give prospective customers a reason to look around and take action. Otherwise, it's the same as having them see your ad, then turn around and go elsewhere. Your ad was a dead end to them, they didn't get anything out of it. No matter how informative your website is, with gorgeous graphics and a winning layout, if it does not encourage your visitors to take certain actions, then it is just taking up web space and isn't filling a purpose.
dead end
Therefore, when you're designing your web marketing strategy, before even building your site, you'll need to ask yourself how you'll obtain your visitors. You'll then need to choose which activities will get you to these results, and which of them can be done in-house, as others are outsourced.
Giving and Selling
The giving and selling principle refers to the fact that when people shop online, they expect to receive something a little extra. Therefore, one fantastic method for attracting customers to your website is to give something to them for free, and then attempt to sell them something else. The strategy typically goes as follows: the first step is to attract people to your site using a good amount of free information.
gift box
The second step is to inform these prospective customers about your products and services. The free stuff doesn't need to be something tangible. Even the information has value, and then once they're hooked, they're ready to learn about what you have to sell them.
Trust
Trust is an extremely important principle for web marketing. In fact, many experts believe that it is the most important of all the other principles for selling your products and services. Without this trust, people simply won't buy from you and you won't have a business. Trust is built in a number of ways. This can include selling well known and respected name brands, by clearly displaying your privacy, shipping, and return policies, by joining well known and respected organizations, and by offering guarantees that you'll stand by.
handshake and laptop
A customer-friendly system based on quality and transparency allows you to build your credibility and will earn the trust of your prospective customers, leading to more sales of your products and services.
Push and Pull
The push and pull principle works by pulling people into your website using attractive content, and then pushing your information to them on a regular basis using email. This can be done in a number of ways; most commonly, this has to do with opt-in programs such as newsletters and updates about sales and other promotions. Since websites are relatively passive, it is extremely useful to add an active element to your marketing campaign that will remind your prospective customers of your existence, and entice them to act on what you have to offer.

Niche Marketing
Niche marketing has become a vital part of the web marketing industry. It is a recognized fact that to be successful, especially with an online business, you need to know your niche, and market directly to them. With a small business, finding the niche must be filled in order to give them enough leverage against the competition.
laptop and network
A niche allows a business, no matter how large or small, to focus on a certain corner of the marketplace, limiting the competition, and focusing on the precise type of person who is most likely to become a customer. The key to niche marketing is to begin with a business plan to identify and define your focus and purpose, and then build your website and marketing strategy based upon the vision you've outlined. This encourages consistency and accuracy throughout your web marketing efforts.

The 7 Secrets of Internet Marketing

18/2/2022

Many marketers have been shifting their marketing budgets to the web over the past few years. Marketing online allows you to target specific audiences and easily track return on investment, commonly referred to as ROI. Unlike traditional marketing methods, results of Internet marketing campaigns are almost immediate. This allows you to better evaluate what elements of your campaign are producing results and which are not. When buying online media, you must be willing to shift your marketing dollars to the online methods that produce a positive return.

To be successful at Internet marketing, you must understand the essential secrets of Internet marketing. These secrets allow you to achieve success by finding the right audience, communicating your message properly, and leading consumers down the path to purchase. These secrets include:
1.  Website Directory Listings. Before you begin any marketing campaign, make sure that the website you're promoting has been listed in the common directories such as DMOZ, Yahoo!, and Google. Even if you're using a marketing page off of the root directory of your website, be sure that the primary site is listed. This ensures that prospects can continue to find your marketing pages long after you've launched your campaign.

2.  Generating Traffic. In order to realize a return on your investment, you need to generate traffic to your marketing pages.
online marketing
There are a number of ways to do so online.  Some of the most popular include Google AdSense, Overture, and Look smart. Other methods include affiliate programs and targeted website advertising. Research other websites that have the audience you're looking for and negotiate favorable ad rates for your online marketing campaign.
3. Marketing Pages. Don't lead prospective purchasers to a generic website. If you do, potential buyers won't know what to do next. The easier you make if for prospects to take advantage of your offer, the better. Whenever creating a marketing campaign online, provide a specific page for leading purchasers of your product or service or a billboard that showcases the offer. Take the guess work out of making a purchase and more consumers will buy.

4.  Testimonials. Customer testimonials are the most powerful way to sell your product or service. When consumers hear from those who have purchased and used your product or service, they gain a certain level of trust and comfort in what you have to offer.  Solicit testimonials after each purchase and use those that are most convincing to prospective purchasers.
5.  Create a Compelling Offer. Be sure to offer something that no one else is currently offering. If your offer is similar to your competitors or is not very interesting, consumers have no reason to learn more.  Of course, providing something for FREE is often a great way to entice potential customers. Maybe it's a 3-day free trial or a free evaluation of some kind. Be creative, try something new, and measure the response.

6.  Developing Trust. Before anyone buys from you, your website or company needs to be seen as reputable. This means that consumers can purchase from you and not worry about the safety of their credit card information, personal information, or anything else being exchanged. A good method for developing trust is to purchase and display safety and reliability icons such as BBB Online, Trust-e, and VeriSign.
7.  Provide a Guarantee. Nothing makes a consumer more comfortable with a purchase than offering a guarantee. Perhaps you can offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee or a money back guarantee.  A guarantee is a great way to ease the risk of making a purchase. If your competitors are offering a guarantee, you want yours to be equal or better.
digital marketing
Internet marketing is an incredibly powerful medium for segmenting your prospects and delivering targeted advertising. Online, you can easily measure your return on investment and refine your marketing campaign over time to improve results.

If you are a local business you can benefit from Internet marketing as well. Look for local directories to list your business or services. Alternatively, you can supplement your local advertising with product marketing pages on your website. Internet marketing is more than just placing ads online, it's using the web to communicate the value of your products and services.

Mix Info Products and Affiliate Marketing for Massive Profits

20/8/2021

Believe it or not, finding a product to market is usually the least of your concerns. There are many ways to find a product. You can create your own information product, sell a service, or market other people’s products for a commission. Use your creativity, be persistent and course correct. After some time you will see results coming in.
e-commerce
While providing a service for people is good, it is often the most time-consuming of the three. For example, if you write resumes for people you only get paid if you work. But if you sell an already-made product, such as an information product or an affiliate product, after you are set-up you can set up your website on autopilot and make sales with little work on your part.
Let me be very clear: You will have to work. You must maintain, at an absolute minimum, your advertising. If you do not, your lead generating machine will dry up.

You may decide to write your own information products. This is not as difficult as it sounds. You know something about something: What do you do for a career? What hobbies do you have? What do you like reading about? Correlate these ideas together, and out comes an ebook, an autoresponder course, or a special report!
e-book
Your product does not have to be long, especially if it is a specialized product. For example, a well-written 5 page how-to article on grooming your dog could sell for $15-$20 dollars.

Think about it: People are looking for your information because they do not want to go to the groomer’s (probably because they think it is overpriced). If they normally pay $40 per visit, and they visit once per month, they pay $480 yearly to the groomer.

On the other hand, if they buy your information, even at $20, you will have saved them $460 (minus the cost of grooming equipment they will have to buy) and quite possibly gain a customer for life.
You may choose, however, to market someone else’s product. This is called "affiliate marketing" and is probably the most popular form of internet marketing. One caveat: Pick your product well, because some products, especially those sold by the "gurus" are in over-saturated markets.

You can be innovative and combine the two (info product and affiliate marketing). Take the example of the how-to article on bathing and grooming your dog.
woman reading kindle
You have provided your customer with a very well-written explanation of how they can save money by grooming their dog at home. Even though they have saved money, they still need grooming tools and equipment.

You can research the various grooming tools, looking for best price and best value, and add one or two pages to your booklet recommending these. Add value to your business by setting yourself up as an affiliate for those products, and recommend your affiliate link in your booklet. Then, when your customers click on the link to buy the grooming tools, you make a commission.
Congratulations! You just experienced multiple streams of income, as you were paid twice: once on the purchase of your info product, and again on the purchase of the grooming tools you affiliated for.

This is how to parlay your experiences into multiple streams of income online.

Internet Marketing: 7 Killer Tools You Can Use On A Shoestring Budget Without Having a Website

28/5/2021

When most people think of Internet marketing, they think solely of websites. Are they right or wrong? Well, both. While websites are a key component of Internet marketing and in many cases are the only Internet marketing tool businesses use, they are not the “be all, end all”. They are not required for Internet marketing. However, I do highly recommend them as they are best suited to sit at the core of your Internet marketing plan, the hub so to speak, but that’s a topic for another conversation.
Picture
So here are 7 killer Internet marketing tools that you can implement on a shoestring budget without having to have a website of your own:
1. Email Marketing
When properly implemented, there probably isn’t a quicker, better, and less expensive way to stay in front of your prospects and clients than to leverage the power of email. You can literally touch an unlimited amount of prospects and clients with a single click ñ how’s that for power?!
Picture
2. Blogs
Blogging is a great tool if you would like to step up a notch and stay in constant contact with your prospects and clients. Some ideas on how to use it might be to post what’s new with you or your business, post informative content as a value-add to your clients, or hold an interactive forum with your clients geared towards understanding how to better serve them.

There are a handful of free or low cost blog hosts out there that really make this process simple (e.g. Blogger and TypePad).

3. Article Marketing
This is a phenomenal approach to bringing notoriety, interest and ultimately leads for many types of businesses. It can be used as a major differentiator or value-add on why someone should buy from you instead of your competitors. Whether your clients are local, regional, national or global - articles are portable and usable in all situations - that's part of their charm.
4. eZines
Much like blogs and article marketing, eZines are great way to stay in touch with your prospects on a more scheduled basis. Additionally, they are probably the forerunner in helping you develop a list of prospects to market and sell your wares.

5. Affiliate Programs
Get others promoting and selling for you. This tool can become the equivalent of having both a full blown marketing and sales staff that gets paid on performance.
Picture
If they don’t promote and directly lead to a sale for you, they don’t get paid. For do-it-yourselfers, there are plenty of tools out there to help you set up this type of program. For everyone else, there are excellent service providers out there who can coordinate and manage this process for you.

6. Viral Marketing
Again, a great approach to getting others to promote and help create a buzz about you, your business, your products and/or your services. The best and most genuine way to get this started is by creating raving fans out of your existing clients and then helping them help you spread the word.

7. Public Relations
If I tell you I’m the best at what I do, you’ll take it with a grain of salt. Maybe you’ll believe me, maybe you won’t. However, people tend to believe what they read. So if a respected publication tells you that I’m the best at what I do, that usually holds more weight and adds instant credibility to me.
Spend some effort here.  Become a resource for the press.  You help them and they can significantly help you.

I highly recommend you spend some time with these. Explore how you can implement one, some, or all of these Internet marketing tools to help explode your business.

The Ultimate Roadmap To Testimonials And How They Can Multiply Your Website Profits

21/5/2021

The fact is, even if your website is full of fabulous sales copy and photos that illustrate all the great features and benefits of your product or service, your potential customers still need to know:

What do people who have purchased and used your product or service think about it? It's simple: your readers know that YOU believe in your product, or you wouldn't be selling it! But what do people with the same problem or need that they have say about your product?
smiley face based testimonial
Answering that question is one of the most fundamental tasks your website needs to accomplish - and it's as simple to do as it is important.

By using testimonials - reviews and comments from your satisfied customers, in text, audio, or video - on your website, you not only answer the question, you also transform your sales pitch into a credible, unbiased recommendation for your product.
1) Overcome buyer skepticism with a glowing testimonial
As I said before, adding testimonials is probably one of the easiest ways to improve your website - but a good one can generate more selling power than some of the best sales copy out there!

So why are testimonials so effective?
Picture
Testimonials build trust: Whether your customers are raving about what your product has done for them or about the great service you gave, they are telling your visitors first and foremost that they had a positive experience with your products and company. Testimonials aren't "salesy": Because testimonials aren't written in your "voice," they stand out in your copy as candid and unbiased accounts of how well your product works. Testimonials overcome skepticism: A good testimonial has the power to convince even your "tough sell" visitors that your product or service really made a difference in your customer's life - and can help them, too. For example, let's say that you're selling a special lotion designed for dry skin. A visitor finds your website - someone with dry skin who needs some relief - and reads all about the amazing moisturizing ingredients in your product and how wonderful it smells.

Those are two good selling points - things that people would want to know before they decided to buy.

But lots of products can make those promises - and many of them don't work! So why should they purchase your product ahead of all the rest?

Then, as they look over the page, a testimonial catches their eye from one of your customers, explaining that your lotion quickly healed a lifelong, agonizing skin condition - something no other product had ever managed to do!

That's the power of an effective testimonial: it can convince your reader that your product DOES work - and that you can be trusted to deliver on your promises.
2) How to choose the right kind of testimonial to turn your visitors into customers
When you're choosing testimonials, there are a few key ingredients to look for that make the difference between an ineffective testimonial - and one that sells.

Here's an example of a glowing but ultimately ineffective testimonial:
woman using smartphone
"I love this product! I can't get enough! I'm so glad I bought your stuff and I'll be back to get more, for sure!"

What could be wrong with that? It sounds like you have a happy customer on your hands!

But what does this testimonial really tell your visitors? Does this prove that the product works, or explain exactly how your customers benefited from using it? While the feedback is definitely positive, the testimonial does not provide enough detail to have any real impact on your visitors.

Here's an example of the kind of effective, benefits-driven testimonials that's worth including:

"I used the methods you told me to use and for three days my phone's been ringing! I sold over $3500 in goods and services in three days! It's the first time in 5 months that anyone had really purchased anything..."

Now that's a great testimonial! But what makes it so powerful?

Let's break down the elements of an effective testimonial in more detail...

A good testimonial is filled with benefits: A comment like, "This product is great!" is nice to hear, but it doesn't tell visitors what your product can do for them. You want the benefits of what you offer to be front and center in every testimonial: "This product doubled our profits in a month!" or "This product caused the pain in my back disappear completely - and did it fast!" or "We've never seen any product that could get the rust out of your car without damaging the paint - until now."

A good testimonial substantiates your claims: If you say your product can do something, your testimonials should back up your promises - complete with actual facts and figures. How much money did your customers save by using your product? How much time did they save by using your service? How did it solve their problems or improve their lives?
  • A good testimonial is from someone your audience can relate to: You want your visitors to see that your product helped someone just like them, seeking the solution to the same problem your visitors have. Make sure your testimonials come from someone with whom your target market can identify. If you sell primarily to seniors, for example, ask your customers if you can include their age along with the testimonial. If you are selling to moms with children, ask if you can mention how many kids they have - or include a photo of their family!
  • A good testimonial is credible: Accompany each testimonial with the first name, last name, and hometown of each testimonial-giver to show that your endorsements come from real people. Always try to include a photo as well. If you can, take it to the next level by including audio or video testimonials for maximum effect! Do everything you can to help your visitors connect with your testimonial-givers on a personal level.
  • A good testimonial endorses the key benefits of your product: Your testimonials should emphasize the key benefits of your product. It's fun to hear that your super-duper floor cleaner smells nice or that the bottle doesn't drip - both things that matter to people who would consider using your product in their homes - but have you established that it cleans their floors well?
  • A good testimonial is comparative: Did your customers try another product that didn't work before they found yours? You want your visitors to know what your product can do that other products can't. Choose testimonials that set your product apart from your competition!

Now that you know what you're looking for in a testimonial, how do you gather the reviews you need from your customers?
3) The secret to getting great testimonials - even if you haven't sold anything yet!
If your customers have given you positive feedback on your product already, then you may already have some great testimonials to add to your site.

However, if your customer response is a little scarce - or if you're just starting out - getting testimonials from your buyers might take a little more effort.
woman using tablet and smiling
So how do you collect the testimonials you need -- and keep them coming as you grow your business?

One easy way to collect testimonials is to include a link on your site with a form that allows your customers to give you their vote of confidence: "Tell us how this product changed your life!" or "Click here to let us know what you think!" Use this link next to some testimonials that you've already gathered to give customers an example of the kind of feedback you're looking for.

A more effective method is to create an autoresponder that contacts your buyers after they've purchased your product - even a month later - to ask how they're enjoying the product, as well as giving them a chance to offer feedback on their experience with your business.

And, of course, any time you receive a great letter or email from a customer, ask them if you can use their comments on your web site to recommend your product to others. If they are happy enough to let you know, they're bound to want to spread the word.

If you haven't yet begun selling your product and have no feedback yet, offer your product or service for free to a select group of customers in exchange for their thoughts on the product or some details on their experience with your site.

The impact that testimonials will have on your bottom line will be well worth the initial expense! As soon as your online business is up and running, make a point of giving every one of your customers a chance to share their experiences with your product or service. Ask for feedback - good and bad - from your autoresponders, your newsletters, and other spots on your website.
4) Strategies for using your testimonials as effectively as possible
Once you've got some testimonials to share with your visitors, you need to make sure that you're putting them to the best possible use on your site.

Always make sure that you...

Include your best testimonials front and center on your homepage, like in your sidebars, or even above your headline.
woman working with laptop on bench
Place testimonials right in the middle of your homepage salescopy to keep your readers focused on your credibility as you outline the features and benefits of your product. Set up a whole page dedicated to your glowing testimonials, as well as include snippets of their comments throughout your site. Be sure to add a link to your testimonial page next to each of those snippets! Include testimonials on each and every page of your website. No matter where your visitors click, you want them to find a positive customer review of your product or service.
Now let's look at a few mistakes to avoid when using testimonials on your website...
  • Don't edit your testimonials to exclude comments or add information you want to hear! If you can't post a comment "as is" and feel comfortable with it, it shouldn't go up.
  • If your testimonials are in your voice and all sound the same, no one is going to trust that they are legitimate.Never use a customer testimonial without permission.
  • Never, ever invent testimonials! This is fraud, plain and simple, and lying never results in a positive impact on your business.

Every Internet Marketer should have a KISS Website

9/4/2021

The title of this article may prompt you to think that you should have a website based off the rock band ‘KISS’. No, ‘KISS’ in this case refers to the old marketing adage ‘Keep It Simple Stupid’. It is critical to keep this marketing strategy in mind when you are creating your website.

How can you use the KISS method when creating your website? Employ the following technical and marketing strategies and you will have a KISS certified website.
desktop and webdesign
These strategies can apply to any Internet business. In addition, it doesn’t matter what your educational background is because everyone can utilize these techniques.

Your KISS strategy should encompass the following three types of websites: Branding site, Sales Letter site, and Power Squeeze Site. We will discuss each site in further detail.
Site #1 - Branding Site: The purpose of your Branding site is to brand your company, products, and/or services. This page needs to be basic so keep the number of options to a minimum. Remember, a confused mind never buys. A potential customer will leave your site in the blink of an eye if they are overwhelmed by the number of options.
monitors with websites
It is also important to note that only 1% of your customers will come from the subscription box on your branding site. Also, only 1% of your customers will come from the product page here. Therefore, the main purpose of the branding site is to create your brand.
Site #2 - Sales Letter Site: The purpose of your Sales Letter site is to get the customer to purchase your product or service. Your Sales Letter site will contain your sales letter.  You don’t want customers to leave this page because once they leave the page the chances of creating a sales conversion dramatically decrease. Therefore, don’t put in options that allow people to leave your Sales Letter site.
responsive website
Site #3 - Power Squeeze Site: The purpose of the Power Squeeze site is to capture personal information from your customer. The only information you need to capture on your Power Squeeze site includes: first name, last name, and primary email address. This will allow you to start a relationship with each customer. You can always capture more personal information later.
social media icons scattered
It is also helpful to tell customers exactly what you want them to do on this page. In other words, if you want them to sign up for your customer list, so have a text that says "Just sign up here". This direction will increase sales conversions. Your Power Squeeze site is your most valuable site. You may need to tweak it often.
Take great care when creating these three sites. These sites are key to attracting and retaining valuable customers who purchase your products and services.

What Kind Of Entrepreneur Are You? - Secrets to Success

19/3/2021

There are three types of Entrepreneurs:
  1. Successful Entrepreneur
  2. Unsuccessful Entrepreneur
  3. New Entrepreneur
Not very catchy definitions, are they?  Let me define them based on their characteristics because the “New Entrepreneur” out there could save them a lot of headaches if they look for behavior that generally leads them to failure.
Successful Entrepreneurs
These guys are easy. They know the game. They understand why you build a business.  They do it over and over again because they love the challenge. They are not in it for their egos, the idea, or the need to have President on their business card. They do it because they can’t do anything else, but build things and then sell them off.  They get it started, then hand it off to people to run it.
man working in office
Unsuccessful Entrepreneurs
Things just don't work out for the Unsuccessful Entrepreneur. More often than not, they keep on trying, and get it a little more right next time.  Eventually, some become successful. Often, they give up and return to the safety net of a 40 hour per week job. Their idea, product, or service just does not solve anyone’s problem, but their own.

New Entrepreneurs
I have a lot of respect for people that venture out into their own or try to turn an idea into action. These are people that generally don’t fit into the corporate structure, are generally liberal minded, having the audacity to question how things are being done and suggest there is a better way to do it.
woman placing post-its on glass window
So the new Entrepreneur has this great idea! Then they get excited because they can make a lot of money doing it! 'I'm going to be rich!'  So, they embark on the emotional high of becoming an Entrepreneur. They become infatuated with their idea. It is the best idea and the only idea worth investing in. Most need money to fund their idea, yet they don’t want to give anything up to get other people’s money.  Their valuation of the business is way over inflated and they have no sales. Ego and control start to get in the way.
Start-ups can end up in a common pattern: the 'New Entrepreneur' is excited about their great idea, yet they cannot really articulate how to make money with it. Their assumptions about their market are not well defined and they do not really understand what it takes to get a business going. They don’t understand why no one will invest in their business. They are passionate about the idea and their ego loves the fact that they can now put President on their business card.

So what is important for new Entrepreneurs?  It is all about sales.
A successful entrepreneur once said: 'Everyone says you need an accountant and a lawyer to get a business started. So, everyone goes out and gets an accountant and a lawyer to make you feel good about your idea.  It's backwards.' He points out that you need customers first to determine if the idea has merit, then go out and hire an accountant and a lawyer. Is what you are doing in demand and are people willing to pay for it? In other words, it is about sales and marketing.
man working in laptop
As a New Entrepreneur is weighing the idea, the emphasis needs to be on sales and marketing. Get the idea, product, or service out there and see if someone will pay you for it. Do you need an infrastructure to support it? Yes. Do you need to be able to deliver it? Yes. But figure out what kind of expectations you can put out there and manage. As another successful Entrepreneur told me, don’t be afraid of success. You can always find money, if you have a book of business to show an investor. You can always find ways to deliver.
laptop with post-its on screen
We see the New Entrepreneur all the time. Some people are looking for the 'Mirror'.  'Come in and tell me that I am great, that my idea is great, and that you can sell it the way I want it to be sold, even though I've had mediocre success to date.' In our case, the web plays an important part for most customers trying to sell products or services. They focus on their logo and their image, their name. Unsuccessful entrepreneurs gladly feed into their egos and leave results starving at the table.
The reality is New Entrepreneurs need to focus on results.  In business, results equal sales and profits.  Logos, names, and images can have value only if people buy because of the name, logo and image.

Get centered answering the questions of your buyers:
  1. What is it?
  2. What is the value?
  3. How do I get it?
  4. Has anyone else used it? What do they say? If not?  What is the edge I get with it?
  5. Yes, I want one!

With limited resources and limited time, investment needs to be on finding the market, bringing them to you, engaging the market, and closing some deals or selling product.

The question to always ask:
Is what I am doing or spending money going to help me generate more sales?
Case in point, people always feel like they need to reinvent something that has been tested to work.  (Ok, I respect out of the box thinking, but dollars can be wasted on IT projects that bring very little value in the end). E-Commerce is an area where people feel the need to “customize”.
  • So, New Entrepreneurs, here are some things to keep in mind:
  • No one cares about 'the idea', they care about what the idea will do for them.
  • Investors don’t care about 'the idea', they care if their investment in the idea will make them money.
woman in office on phone
  • Investors don’t invest in 'the idea', they invest in the people behind the idea. If you do not demonstrate your ability to execute, you will not get investment.
  • Being President of nothing with no sales has no value.
  • It’s about marketing and sales, particularly for start-ups.
  • Always ask, is what I am doing going to help me sell more?
  • Is what I am spending my money on going to help me sell more?
  • Can I apply metrics to what I am doing?
  • It’s about execution.
man working with graph bar
As it relates to the web marketing, the same rules apply. Here is the list to keep in mind:

The website visitor does not care about you, they care about what you can do for them.
1. They want to know:
a. What is it?
b. What is the value?
c. How do I get it?
2. Before you spend money on an expensive website, can you answer these questions:
a. How big is the market?
b. What words do people use to search for your product?
c. How much to advertise?
d. Who are your competitors?
e. What are they doing?
f. What are they not doing?
g. Who are the top ranked sites?

3. Have you budgeted for web marketing?
Monthly?

4. You are a new business, people don’t know you. And until you spend millions drilling your brand into their psyche, they aren't going to know your brand from a hole in the ground. Use what you do, or what your customers call your product as your name. This strategy worked fine in the past and still works fine today. Evidence: International Business Machines, Advanced Micro Devices, American Telephone and Telegraph, General Motors, General Electric, National Cash Register, American Airlines and Budget Rent-a-Car.  Not an obscure latin name with an interesting meaning only to you.

There is really nothing sexy about Internet marketing. It's about execution and results. It's NOT about corporate ego. It is about what your product or service does for the buyer and the investor.

Does Your Target Market SEE You? Turn up the Wattage

12/3/2021

One day I discovered that I was doing everything right. Why weren’t the clients coming? Metaphorically speaking I was operating at a 25-Watt bulb. What is your wattage? Your future clients can’t see you sitting at your desk. If you’re marketing with a 25-watt bulb, your prospective clients may see you, but unless you shine brightly and consistently, you will stay in the shadows.

When building a plan for greater visibility you want to look at several things.
light bulb
dart on fire
1) Make sure you are aiming your light at the right target market. If you are just beginning in your field there is a tendency to spread a wide net. Once you gain more experience you find there are particular clients you really want to focus on. Then you have your more specific target market. The most non-effective way of shining your light is pointing it in all directions as if you were searching. Be focused.
2) What type of visibility tactics do you enjoy? This is important. If you don’t enjoy what you are doing it will come across in your message.

Examples:
If you enjoy speaking, what groups fit your criteria for your target market? Then, you might think of what groups fit the environment you enjoy. Once you have determined that, make those introductory calls to the group leaders and get on their speaking docket.

If you enjoy writing, what style of writing do you like? Mine happens to be writing from the heart through actual experiences. It is usually in story form. It reflects learning and provides positive viewpoints, giving others room to grow.  The bottom line is, if you like to write -- then write! Do it in your style and get your stories out to your market.
If you enjoy facilitating what could you bring as a sampling of your work. I have a friend with an Improv business. She and her staff host an open house at different times during the year to let the public “experience” what they do. They invite current and past clients as well as new possibilities. In Person and Sampling is most effective for them to build their database as well as their client base.
hand and marker
I could go on but I bet you get the idea. Whatever approach you use, pay attention to what you enjoy and the strengths you have. Don’t be afraid to be creative. That’s when your uniqueness will shine.
3) Find other businesses that compliment what you do and vice versa. I have a peer and friend with www.nurse-entrepreneur-network.com who consistently looks for complimentary content that will benefit her client base. She has already requested that this article be in her database before it’s ready to go. There are many publishers on the Internet that will place your article on their website at no charge for other business owners to pick up. i.e. www.ezinearticles.com. There are also other websites that have a range of what they charge to publish your work.
What will you do to be seen? Think about what you enjoy, what is most effective for your product or service and get out there and DO IT! Consistency is key. Choose one or two marketing approaches, stick to the plan, evaluate the results and course correct. You will be happy with the outcome.

7 Great Ways to Promote your Business Using the Internet

5/3/2021

Whether you provide services or have your own store, you know you need to make yourself known by potential customers. The great question is how to do it. You may not have tons of money to invest in marketing. Besides, not all forms of marketing are the right choice for all businesses. The right marketing for you depends on the characteristics of your business. In this article we will explore how you can take advantage of the web to draw customers to your business.
man designing website
The first thing you need to get is your own website.
This can be a simple website, just telling visitors what you do and allowing them to contact you, either by email, phone or by filling in a form. It is important that your site has a nice design according to your occupation, because it will provide the first impression users will have of your business. You may contact a web designer to develop your site. If you do it yourself, pay attention to the styles, colors and layout you use.
Some hints:
  • Neat pages look better than over crowded ones
  • Use colors to highlight phrases or areas you want users to pay special attention to
  • The site navigation (menus) must be easy to understand and use by everyone
  • Keep in mind that people use different browsers, and if possible, view your site with two or three browsers to check how it looks.
  • Design your site to be search engine friendly. You will need search engines to direct traffic to your site, so you need them to be able to index it.
Now you need to register it in search engines and directories so users can find it. Your website is the Internet branch of your business. This is the beginning of your Internet presence. There are global and local directories and there may also be industry-specific directories where you can register your business. Search for directories in the major search engines and register your site in as many directories as you can. Inclusion in some search engines and directories is paid
google website on smartphone
It's then up to you to decide whether it will be a good idea or not to pay for it. It depends on your business, on whether your market is highly competitive or not, and of course it depends on whether you can afford it or not.
two men discussing blog content
The next step is to generate backlinks to your site. It means to get other sites to link to your site. This helps your site get a better page rank in search engines, and also exposes your site to more people. In certain cases, link-exchange programs may be helpful. You have already created some backlinks by adding your site to the search engines and directories. You now have other ways to add more backlinks:
  • Write articles about your field of expertise and post them in article directories, including the url to your business and a brief but tempting explanation of what you do in the resource box.
  • Post in forums related to your field of expertise, trying to be helpful to others so people see you know what you do. Include your url in your signature. IMPORTANT: Don't spam the forums that won't look good at all. Just post when you really have something useful to say.
Another way to promote your business is to offer a periodic newsletter in your website. This way you send an email including interesting and useful information to your subscribers, once a week, or once a month, for example. If they really like it, they will refer other people to it thus making your subscriber base grow.
keyboard with newsletter button
You can also promote your business every time you send an email. Just add your url to your signature. This way, every person to whom you send an email will also have a link to your website.
adwords
There are also pay-per-click advertising programs on the web, major search engines like Google and Yahoo offer them. In these programs, you publish an ad, and search engines display it. You pay when someone clicks on the ad to be directed to your site. If you decide to use these programs, you need to experiment with them to get the best benefit with low cost.
Last, but not least: you need to add content to your site periodically, so visitors come back and search engines rank your site better. Both people and search engines like sites with useful up-to-date content.

10 Great Tips for Content Creation

19/2/2021

It has been discovered that visitors to websites read the content differently than they would if they were reading the same content in print.  When a website visitor is reading a websiteís content, then instead of reading it word for word, it is more likely that he or she will scan over the page looking for the specific information that he or she wants from the page. Therefore, the style of writing used for print material is not the same as that which should be utilized for a website.
woman typing on laptop
The style for the web, especially in the case of marketing, must be much more succinct and effective. Remember that it is the reader, not the writer, of the content who will determine the sequence that will be followed for the content.

To do this, there are a number of things that you need to keep in mind as you write your web content:
1. Instead of thinking like an online marketer, you need to think like the reader. This means that you need to make certain that anyone scanning over your content will find it easy to discover the information they’ve been seeking.

2. Always keep the reader in mind as you write each part of the copy. Use a style that is much more casual than you would in print, because the reader will need to be able to relate to the wording.
image of wordpress post
3. Apply more of a journalistic-type writing style. This means that your wording will be simple and direct, and any complex sentence structures should be avoided. Don't use any unnecessary words or "fluff".
4. Never let the end purpose of your content leave your mind as you write. Online marketing is something that must be done with purpose in order to reach a specific target. The design itself, the copy, and the navigational tools should all work together toward your online marketing message.

5. Make your copy personal so that it reads as though you're speaking directly to your prospective client.
feather pen writing
This can be done by using the second person, that is, writing "you", so that the reader will feel as though he or she can personally relate with what you are trying to say.

6. Always tell your reader the benefits of whatever you're saying. Copy should be written in order to directly inform readers of "what's in it for them". This means not only saying the features of any given product or service, but also why these features are good for the reader's needs and desires.
7. Give order to your content by saying the most important things first so that they are the first points that your readers will spot at the top of the page. Since your readers will be scanning to find information that is worthwhile to them, you need to catch their interest as soon as possible or they will simply go elsewhere.

8. Don't make your content one or two enormous blocks of text.  Instead, break up your paragraphs.
woman sitting on floor and writing on laptop
Smaller, more manageable and more inviting paragraphs of no more than two or three sentences are easier to read and scan. You can also use subheadings and bullets to make scanning easier and more appealing.
9. Be consistent with your writing style throughout your site. Every page from your website should be written with the same feel, the same layout, the same words that are capitalized, and the same number of headings, so that everything remains consistent. This is extremely appealing to web users, since it makes scanning dramatically simpler.

10. Of course, you should never forget the ever-important keywords to be included to maximize
vintage glasses, notepad, pencil and photos on map
SEO (search engine optimization) is one of the most effective online marketing efforts you can make.  Furthermore, scanning your content becomes much easier when keywords are there to be spotted.

None of these points are very difficult, however, they are somewhat time consuming. Fortunately, they are worth every moment you can put into them.  Whether this means hiring a professional, or doing it yourself, these techniques provide you substantial results that youíll be able to see growing over time.  Just donít forget to keep up those efforts as you add new pages to your website, or if you change the siteís design in the future!

Brand You: The Top Five Ways To Build Your Brand Online

29/1/2021

Your brand is you. It's everything that your business is, encapsulated in a name, and sometimes in a slogan. But naming your business and creating a slogan isn't enough. You've got to build your brand by showing what your brand stands for.

Here are the top five ways to build your brand online:
1. Create a Website
Your website can be anything from a tiny billboard site to a huge ten-thousand page extravaganza. Either way, your website builds your brand. Of course, the more pages your site has, the more you can showcase your products and your expertise.

Tip: You're never done building your brand, and you're never done building your website either.
plans for building a website
Aim to add something to your website every day, even if it's only one blog post (see below). Building your website is the easiest, cheapest, and fastest way to build your brand, online or offline.
man posting in a blog
2. Develop a blog
A blog lets you broadcast your branding messages far and wide via the magic of Really Simple Syndication (RSS). Within minutes after you've written a blog post and published it, your post is visible on in blog search engines. Make sure you tag categories and include an SEO post title and description.

The general business community is now wide awake to the power of blogs.
Your blog can help you to build your brand as nothing else can. Spend a few minutes today checking out the websites of others in your industry. You may be surprised, and even shocked, to discover how many of your competitors are blogging.
3. Write articles to showcase your expertise
What do you know? What do you do? How do you do it? Why do you do it? When do you do it?

Your customers have many questions that they want answered before and after they do business with you. One of the easiest ways you can answer their questions is to write articles, white papers, and reports. If you do enough of this, your website will become a trusted portal for news about your industry.
notepad, pen and laptop on table
This has huge benefits for your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) activities. Can you imagine what this could do to build your brand? Once you've written the articles, post them to your website, and to article directories, of which there are hundreds online. When you post these documents to article directories, people are made aware of your brand, and your brand's message spreads virally, as other people promote your material on their Web sites.
microphone and computer screen in studio
4. Write news releases
Up to 80 per cent of all news on news sites is taken directly from press releases sent out by companies and organizations.

Whenever a story appears about you in the press, whether online or offline, the resulting free publicity is branding that you can't buy, no matter how much money you spend on ad campaigns. You can leverage your brand with just one story in a daily paper.
Tip: your local media, newspapers, radio and TV, are always desperate for stories -- send your releases to your local media, as well as posting them online.
5. Teach your expertise to others
When you teach others, you learn too. In fact, you may only become fully aware of what your brand is when you start to sell franchises, or when you teach others your processes.

Take advantage of video platforms like google meets and zoom to offer your expertise or build a restricted area on your website with pre-recorded material. What's best is that your students can be anywhere in the world and watch.
woman teaching students
Integrate it with a payment gateway and they'll be able to purchase your content online.
Branding is a function of marketing, and whether your business is brand new or well-established, branding your business makes your business memorable, so it's essential. These top five activities will create a strong brand for you, much sooner than you think possible.
